A Good Morning

After a couple of rough days dad woke up more like himself yesterday. He seems back on his "fun track" and has expressed it with pranks, jabs and lots of laughs.
This morning mom went to pick up our Aunt Wendy at the airport, so I sat in their room with dad. We enjoyed Carrie Underwood singing on the Today show. He remarked, "Ohh, I like her. She's pretty." He ate a good breakfast of muffins and coffee, which ended up all down his shirt so we promptly changed him into a new shirt. He fell asleep after breakfast until Aunt Wendy entered the room. He awoke with a confused look on his face, asking "Who are you? What's your name?" I was quick to try and set him right by explaining, "This is mom's sister, this is Aunt Wendy." Before I realized, a smile had slowly crept onto his face and he shouted, "GOTCHYA!"
Good old dad, we never know quite what to expect :-)

  1. Lauren,
I'm so glad to hear that your dad is still being a prankster! We enjoyed the visit from Larry and Leslie recently and so happy to have been able to get a few people together at our house. Your dad is such an inspiration to me..he always has a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. What an example of determination and faith he is!! Something I'm sure you're proud of. How lucky you are to have such great parents. Tell them both hello for me and you all are in my prayers.

  2. Larry,
You are in the prayers of your Hydro High School class of 1967 classmates. It is so good to hear that you are maintaining your sense of humor and enjoying this time with your wonderful family.

The trip you and Leslie made to Hydro in December was a great time of enjoyment and something we will always remember and cherish. Thank you so much.

I thought about writing about all of our past experiences, however, given that we have known each other for 60 years that would be a book. Suffice it to say we have many great memories, playing basketball, shooting snooker, and simply dragging main to name a few. Later in life we enjoyed many philosophical discussions regarding management and leadership.

    May God bless you.

    Your friend,
    Jimmy Mogg

  8. Larry:

So glad you are having a good day!!

The picture you have posted is perfect!! Pretty cute

We are so amazed at your sense of humor and your continuing life style of making others feel encouraged and lifted up---that is just who you are. We talk often about the time you insisted on going by the Blood Center to see Larry after being at St. Lukes. He really appreciated that visit. YOU are a real class act!!

So glad to have this blog to keep in touch. You are all in our prayers.

    Blessings

    Larry & Doris Sher

  10. It was so good to visit with Larry today. His humor will always be a part of his life. As I watched Larry & Leslie together I could see a special bond of love.
I remember when Larry showed me a good little italian resturant on State Line. We liked it so much that we went back again about a month later.
Your family has always been special to us and we will continue to keep you in our prayers.

  11. Larry you are one of a kind -- your friendly greeting when Kay and I first attended CCC--your continuing examplary faith and ever looking forward and upward.
Don't tell Jim Mogg this but discovering that you were long time friends was all the validation needed -- I can readily visualize the two of you dragging main in Oklahoma!!!
You have always exhibited an awareness of the rich blessing our Lord bestowed on you in the form of Leslie, Lauren and Lyndsay. I, also have been blessed.
I treasure having been permitted to spend a treatment day and meal with you and sharing country boy expericiences -- May the peace of our Lord continue to be with you, Leslie, Lauren and Lyndsay. We care, Les & Kay

  13. Larry,
Know that I am praying for you and especially for your family. I have so enjoyed your hugs and smiles over the years. You are such an inspriration in how to demonstrate grace in all you do. When I think of you, I do so with a smile because you always have one on your face. You demonstrate God's goodness in all you do and say. Thank you.

  15. Hi Larry, Leslie and girls,
I think about all of you so often and want you to know that there is a special place in my heart for you guys. My favorite prank of Larry's was when our small group was at the Forland's. Because of the size of the group, we were seated for dinner in two separate rooms. Larry piped up and said, "lets all laugh real hard and make the other guys wonder what we're up to". "On the count of 3 everybody laugh". We had to do it several times before the other group even noticed, but our group was very entertained and amused. Thanks for all the fun times Larry. Your friend, Cherie Nanninga

  16. I have been thinking and praying for you all today. I just read the church prayer chain message. I want to thank you for letting me be part of your family in caring for Lauren and Lyndsey while you and Leslie went on many business trips. I enjoyed my time with your girls. I also remember the day that I turned off the bathroom light on you Larry at church. You never let me live that one down. Our family will be praying for all of you. Anything that you need just call or email.

    Love Julie Fletcher

  17. I am and always have been proud to call you cousin. It is true what Cousin Vicki said--that when I was seven or so, you were on my list of boyfriends. That was before I knew cousins didn't marry. But the real message, in my seven year old mind, was that my cousin was someone special. Someone I enjoyed being around; someone who important. My church continues to pray for you.
